A breast augmentation (aka augmentation mammoplasty or breast implant surgery) is a plastic surgery procedure that uses saline or silicone breast implants to increase breast volume. For many of our patients, a breast augmentation in Orange County is simply a way to enhance their image and confidence. Other times, it comes on the coattails of a mastectomy due to breast cancer.
Subglandular placement
The implant is placed in a pocket underneath breast tissue but above pectoral muscle. Result is perky, round breasts, and recovery tends to be more comfortable.
Submuscular placement
The implant is placed beneath both breast tissue and pectoral muscle. Result is very natural looking projection, and much lower risk of ‘rippling’ or capsular contracture.
Dual-plane placement
The ‘best of both worlds’ option. The upper two-thirds of the implant is situated beneath the pec muscle, while the lower third is placed over the pec muscle. Results are perky, round, and realistic projection.
