Breast Implant Options

Choosing the right implant for you is important. Dr. Esmailian will consider your body type, aesthetic goals, and medical history to determine the best implants for you.

Silicone

Plymer gel in a silicone shell. Natural look and feel, and low risk of post-operative problems

Saline

Saltwater solution in a silicone shell. Inserted empty and filled once placed; ideal for firm, rounder breasts. Body will absorb saltwater in the event of rupture

Gummy Bear

Silicone gel, and maintains shape well. Ideal for very active patients; have elegant tear drop shape

Textured

Remains firmly in place due to textured surface; used for realistic-looking breasts

Smooth

Implant can move freely within the surgical pocket created to house it

Ideal Breast Implant

A saline implant with similar structure and consistency of silicone. Has lower risk of rippling and ‘sloshing’. Though similar, not a substitute for a silicone implant

Options For Implant Placement

Subglandular placement

The implant is placed in a pocket underneath breast tissue but above pectoral muscle. Result is perky, round breasts, and recovery tends to be more comfortable.

Submuscular placement

The implant is placed beneath both breast tissue and pectoral muscle. Result is very natural looking projection, and much lower risk of ‘rippling’ or capsular contracture.

Dual-plane placement

The ‘best of both worlds’ option. The upper two-thirds of the implant is situated beneath the pec muscle, while the lower third is placed over the pec muscle. Results are perky, round, and realistic projection.

Which Incision Style Is Best For You?

No matter the incision style, Dr. Esmailian is known for his incision technique, which keeps incisions as small and as camouflaged as possible.

Periareolar

Around the nipple in the areola; option with the least visible scarring and lowest risk of nipple-sensation loss

Inframammary

Underneath the breast crease; ideal for large silicone implant sizes; incision is roughly same size as periareolar and scar is well hidden

Transaxillary

Incision made in armpit, and mostly used for saline implants

Periumbilical

Implant inserted via the navel; rare, and for saline implants only

Other Breast Augmentation Options

Based on your goals and body type, Dr. Esmailian may suggest alternatives that will better suit your needs.

  • Breast Lift - great for raising and correcting sagging breasts, restoring them to a youthful position and projection
  • Mommy Makeover - childbirth and breastfeeding take a toll on your body; flatten out your stomach and revivify your breasts in one surgery, cutting down on recovery time and cost
  • Fat Transfer- use the body’s own excess fat for a natural look and feel that has minimal risk of complication. Best for those who aren’t looking for a significant size change; great way to even out imperfections

What Happens During A Breast Augmentation?

Typically performed in an hour, a breast augmentation in Orange County takes place in an operating theater while the patient is under general sedation. Dr. Esmailian makes the preferred incision and creates an implant ‘pocket’, where the implant is then gently placed. The pocket is closed, followed by the outer incision using precise suturing techniques to minimize scarring.

What To Expect After The Procedure

Immediately after the incisions are closed, a specialized support bra is put on the patient. Then, our medical care team will observe you until you fully emerge from sedation. A friend, relative, or medical professional will accompany you home. Patients should avoid driving for 24 hours and plan to rest for a full week before resuming light activity.

What Is Recovery Like After A Breast Augmentation?

The service you receive during after care will continue to be high caliber. Dr. Esmailian will see you for follow-up appointments to ensure a healthy healing process. Light desk work and activity may be resumed after a week, but vigorous activity is to be avoided until Dr. Esmailian gives clearance, usually three weeks post-op. Our patients are welcome to call with any questions or concerns at any point, we are at your disposal!

How Much Does A Breast Augmentation Cost?

Every breast augmentation Dr. Esmailian performs is customized to the patient, and no two procedures are alike. The cost of a breast augmentation in Orange County varies based on shape, size, techniques required, and whether other procedures are being performed at the same time. We offer a variety of payment and finance options to ensure you achieve the body you desire.

Best In Class Anesthesia Treatment

What separates good plastic surgeons from excellent ones is the sedation process. Dr. Esmailian always works with a board-certified anesthesiologist who is focused on your care, and not juggling multiple patients, which often happens in plastic surgery practices. The difference is a much smoother experience for the patient with drastically reduced side effects.

Breast Augmentation Scarring

As with any surgical procedure, scarring will occur with a breast augmentation. Dr. Esmailian has developed advanced techniques to keep incisions as tension-free as possible, which results in a much better healing process. He also ensures incisions are hidden and as small as they can be, resulting in scars that escape notice.

Possible Risks With Breast Augmentation

All surgeries carry some risk, and choosing a highly-trained, seasoned plastic surgeon is a must for optimal results. Breast Augmentation risks, while uncommon, can include loss of nipple sensitivity, risk of infection or bleeding, or ruptured or leaking implants. Dr. Esmailian will perform a thorough risk assessment and will not proceed with the surgery unless he is confident it will go well.
