Recovery After a Mommy Makeover
Your recovery process depends on the procedures you choose for your mommy makeover. On average, you will need a couple of weeks of downtime as your body recuperates. During this time, you will want a friend or family at home to help you with any heavy lifting or work required at home, including picking up your kids and caring for your children.
During your recovery process, Dr. Esmailian will be available to you and will remain in contact with you to guide you through a smooth healing process. You will wear pressure bandages to help reduce the swelling and ensure your body’s new contours and shapes heal beautifully. Women who had a tummy tuck will have drains around their abdomen, which will be removed within a few days.
After about two weeks, light, sedentary work may be resumed if you feel up to do. No vigorous activity or heavy lifting should be attempted until at least six weeks have passed.
Generally, healing will be fully complete and swelling fully reduced at 3-6 months after your mommy makeover. You can expect a firm, fit abdomen, full, beautiful breasts, and an overall lift and rejuvenation of your feminine physique.
Mommy Makeover Scars
Virtually all surgical incisions will result in scars, and a Mommy Makeover is no exception. Most of the incisions made with a Mommy Makeover are located in the abdomen and breasts. Abdominal incisions are made in the waistline while breast incisions are typically made around the areola and then down toward the bottom of the breast. While scarring is mostly unavoidable, there are actions that can be taken to minimize their appearance.
Patients should avoid submerging the treated areas in water. This means no baths or taking a dip in a pool. Applying scar cream (formulated with Vitamin E) and/or silicone sheets can greatly aid the healing process, decreasing the likelihood of developing overly dark scars. Beyond that, getting plenty of rest and maintaining a healthy lifestyle can help ensure that the incisions heal up with minimal scarring.
