Be Comfortable In Your Body

Are you a guy who feels self-conscious about unwanted tissue on your chest, and have diet and exercise failed to solve your problem? You may have a condition called gynecomastia, which affects many men. This condition can be embarrassing, especially for adolescents who may face teasing from peers.

What Is Gynecomastia?

Gynecomastia is a condition where boys and men grow protruding ‘breasts’ from swollen breast tissue or fat. The protrusions can often be seen through shirts, and is a source of body shame for many both in and out of clothing. Gynecomastia affects a lot of people, including bodybuilders, weight loss patients, and average men who have struggled with this condition for years. Though not unusual, it isn’t widely known that diet and exercise are ineffective at treating it. In some cases, exercise of the pectoral muscles may even make the issue worse. The best way to get rid of ‘man boobs’ is through surgery.

How Does The Procedure Work?

Surgery to treat Gynecomastia occurs in a state-of-the-art outpatient surgery center. After the patient is anesthetized, Dr. Esmailian removes excess glandular and fatty tissue. Next, he resculpts the chest for a more masculine appearance. Finally, the sutures are closed, and the procedure is complete. The whole process takes about 1-2 hours for most patients.

Is Gynecomastia Surgery For Me?

The best way to learn if this procedure could help you regain confidence in your appearance is to come in for a one-one consultation with Dr. Esmalian. Here are some signs that you may have this condition:

  • You have tissue that protrudes on your chest that looks like breasts
  • You feel embarrassed to take off your shirt at the pool or beach
  • You have tried diet and exercise and nothing has worked

The Recovery Process

Most patients find the recovery from gynecomastia surgery to be fairly smooth and easy. Dr. Esmailian recommends patients plan to take 1-2 weeks off. Patients will come in for follow-up visits with Dr. Esmailian so he can ensure healing is going according to plan.

A compression garment is worn during the recovery period, but it is easily hidden under clothes. Patients should avoid going to the gym or doing any vigorous exercise for at least four weeks, or until cleared by Dr. Esmailian. After that time, you can confidently resume all normal activities, and be confident in your skin.

How Much Does The Procedure Cost?

While gynecomastia is a common condition, most insurance companies do not cover the surgery needed to treat it. Some patients may shop around for the cheapest price, but when it comes to your body, it is more important to search for a surgeon with experience; cheaper plastic surgery clinics may leave you with undesirable results that you have to pay a better surgeon to correct later.

At Dr. Esmailian’s practice, there is no one-size-fits-all procedure, since he tailors everything to each individual patient. The cost of gynecomastia repair varies based on body type, techniques required, and the medical history of the patient. During your consultation, Dr. Esmailian and his team can walk you through pricing and payment options.
