Pregnancy and childbirth are a unique and special part of a woman’s life. In addition to the joy children bring, the female physique is impacted, often in lasting ways that result in unwanted changes. Mothers may experience a loss of youthful elasticity in their breasts, abdomen, skin and other parts of their body, and discover stretch marks and stubborn fat pockets. These changes and others can cause women to lose confidence and self esteem when it comes to their feminine appeal.

A mommy makeover is designed specifically for you to help restore your beautiful, youthful figure and return your confidence.

Beautiful Mother after makeover

What is a Mommy Makeover?

A mommy makeover is a combination of procedures done together to rejuvenate and enhance the female physique. Each mommy makeover is customized according to the needs of the mother, usually including 2-3 procedures to address the breasts, abdomen, fat deposits, and other areas, including a prominent C-section scar or other concerns. Because the procedures are done during the same surgical session, women benefit from a wide range of improvements while only going under anesthesia once.

Dr. Esmailian will have a thoughtful consultation with you to determine what areas you would like to target for rejuvenation and enhancement to help you feel beautiful and confident again about your figure as a mother.

How much does a mommy makeover cost?

Because every mommy makeover is different, and designed to your exact needs, the cost can vary quite a bit depending on the procedures you require to meet your aesthetic goals. Based on your consultation, Dr. Esmailian will detail a surgical plan that includes your required procedures. This will include your exact cost. Prices generally range between $6,000 and $20,000.

How To Prepare for a Mommy Makeover

Be at or close to your goal weight

It is vital that patients be comfortable with their current weight before undergoing a mommy makeover procedure. This is simply due to the fact that weight fluctuations can compromise the results of the procedure. Getting regular exercise and making some dietary changes can go a long way in getting to one’s goal weight.

Be in good overall health

Like any surgery, patients should be in good overall health. Being a smoker or having a chronic health condition can both negatively impact a surgical procedure and its results. Quitting smoking and getting checkups are essential.

Make time for the recovery process

It is vital that patients set aside some time so that they can heal properly. Rushing the healing process and going back to work too soon can negatively impact the recovery process.

Get the home ready for a relaxing recovery period

It is highly recommended that patients set up an area for themselves with pillows, blankets, and cushions to keep themselves comfortable throughout the day. Having some things to keep themselves entertained, such as books and television, is also a good idea. Patients will thank themselves later for doing this.

Do a meal prep

Patients will most likely not be able to get out of bed much. This means they won’t be able to cook for themselves. It is a good idea to prepare some food ahead of time to avoid any unnecessary stress.

What Procedures Are Included in a Mommy Makeover?

A mommy makeover will include 2-3 or more of the following procedures:

Breast Augmentation

During breast augmentation surgery, your breasts will be enlarged and enhanced with silicone implants, saline implants, or a fat transfer to create a full, appealing, symmetrical breast shape and size.

Breast Lift

When performing a breast lift, your breasts will be raised higher on the chest wall and attractively shaped to provide a more youthful, perky bounce.

Breast Reduction

Overly large, pendulous breasts are reduced to create a smaller, more proportionate and attractive breast contour.

Liposuction

Stubborn fat pockets are removed with gentle liposuction, designed to eliminate fat tissues that don’t reduce well with diet and exercise.

Tummy Tuck

During tummy tuck surgery, your abdominal muscles are tightened and excess fat and skin is removed to achieve a flat, firm, sculpted tummy.

Labiaplasty

Enlarged or uncomfortable labia are reshaped with labiaplasty by removing excess skin, leaving the labia more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing in their appearance.

Brazilian butt lift

Your bottom gets an attractive boost with a BBL–unwanted fat from other areas is transferred to the buttocks to lift and enhance the shape, resulting in a curvy, appealing contour.

Your mommy makeover can also address other areas, such as the face and skin.

Eyelid Surgery

During eyelid surgery, sagging eyelids are tightened and lifted to brighten and rejuvenate the eyes.

Brow Lift

During a brow lift, forehead lines and creases are erased and the brow is lifted to create a smooth, youthful appearance.

Overall facial rejuvenation can be achieved with dermal fillers and Botox, which can be used to replace lost volume, smooth wrinkles, and give the lips an attractive, plump pout.

Recovery After a Mommy Makeover

Your recovery process depends on the procedures you choose for your mommy makeover. On average, you will need a couple of weeks of downtime as your body recuperates. During this time, you will want a friend or family at home to help you with any heavy lifting or work required at home, including picking up your kids and caring for your children.

During your recovery process, Dr. Esmailian will be available to you and will remain in contact with you to guide you through a smooth healing process. You will wear pressure bandages to help reduce the swelling and ensure your body’s new contours and shapes heal beautifully. Women who had a tummy tuck will have drains around their abdomen, which will be removed within a few days.

After about two weeks, light, sedentary work may be resumed if you feel up to do. No vigorous activity or heavy lifting should be attempted until at least six weeks have passed.

Generally, healing will be fully complete and swelling fully reduced at 3-6 months after your mommy makeover. You can expect a firm, fit abdomen, full, beautiful breasts, and an overall lift and rejuvenation of your feminine physique.

Mommy Makeover Scars

Virtually all surgical incisions will result in scars, and a Mommy Makeover is no exception. Most of the incisions made with a Mommy Makeover are located in the abdomen and breasts. Abdominal incisions are made in the waistline while breast incisions are typically made around the areola and then down toward the bottom of the breast. While scarring is mostly unavoidable, there are actions that can be taken to minimize their appearance.

Patients should avoid submerging the treated areas in water. This means no baths or taking a dip in a pool. Applying scar cream (formulated with Vitamin E) and/or silicone sheets can greatly aid the healing process, decreasing the likelihood of developing overly dark scars. Beyond that, getting plenty of rest and maintaining a healthy lifestyle can help ensure that the incisions heal up with minimal scarring.

Is Phlegm In The Throat A Common Problem After Surgery?

After any procedure under general anesthesia, phlegm builds up in the lungs. We encourage our patients to cough and clear the debris after surgery.

Is There Harm With Taking An Antibiotic Before Surgery?

It is not necessary to take antibiotics before surgery. We will provide antibiotics in your IV just before surgery, per the research on the appropriate time to begin antibiotics before a procedure.

Is It Okay To Have Plastic Surgery While Menstruating?

Yes, it is okay. Your menstrual cycle is not an issue in terms of the timing of your mommy makeover.

How Soon After Surgery Can I Start Using Silicone Scar Sheets?

Biocorneum silicone gel is applied twice a day for the first 90 days. At this point, the skin is healed enough that silicone scar sheet therapy can be started.

Are There Stitches That Need To Be Removed After Mommy Makeover?

Sutures around the belly button are removed within 1-2 weeks after the procedures. All other sutures are internal and are either permanent or dissolvable and do not need to be removed.

How Long Does It Usually Take To Wake Up From General Anesthesia If Going For A Mommy Makeover For 4 Hours?

Every patient responds differently to anesthesia, usually waking within 5-8 hours of their surgery. This depends on the length of the surgery and which drugs are used. Dr. Esmailian coordinates with the anesthesiologist on how much longer the surgery will take so that the anesthesiologist can manage the time it will take for the patient to wake up and keep this at a minimum.

Can Liposuction And Tummy Tuck Be Done At The Same Time?

Yes, these procedures are often performed together during a mommy makeover to address the tummy, hip/flanks, the lateral thigh, the inner thigh, back, and pubis.

Acrylic Nails And Nail Polish During Surgery?

There is no need to remove acrylic nails or nail polish for a mommy makeover.

Very Dry Skin After Surgery?

Dry skin is common after most procedures because the nerves and glands that secrete natural moisturizers are disrupted. Use your usual moisturizing lotion to help keep your skin hydrated during the healing process.

How Long Should I Expect To Have Surgical Drains After Mommy Makeover Surgery?

Your drains will come out between 5 days to two weeks.

How Long After A Mommy Makeover Before I Can Have Sex?

If you are careful to rest well, you may be able to resume sex after 3-4 weeks. To be on the more conservative and safer side, wait for 6 weeks.

Advil Or Tylenol After Mommy Makeover?

For the first two weeks, refrain from using any anti-inflammatory like Aspirin/Advil/Motrin/Aleve after surgery, as these medications can thin the blood and increase the risk of bleeding. Tylenol or acetaminophen products are safe to use immediately after surgery.

Swimming and Jacuzzi After Tummy Tuck And Breast Lift Surgery?

After six weeks, you can go in a swimming pool or Jacuzzi, as long as the Jacuzzi is not very hot. (A hot Jacuzzi can increase the swelling in the areas trying to heal.)
